Day 3: Next Stop - Tomar

Tomar

The next day Thursday, May 23, I checked out of my hostel and boarded a train to Rossio Square in Lisbon and from there, took a train to Tomar. I arrived in Tomar around 3pm and checked into my hostel where I shared a room at the hostel with a group of older women from various parts of the world. I hope that I am just as adventurous as them when I am there age.

After getting settled, I made my way to the Convento de Christo where I waited in a short line for a long time. A surprisingly large amount of elderly tourists were there. In the end, I wasn't very impressed with the site.

I then returned to the town and ate at A Bela Vista which overlooked the lake and river. I chose the Fritada de Gambas (fried prawns with acorda bread soup) and a dessert called fatia de Tomar which is a regional desert made only with egg yolks, sugar, & water. The dessert was delicious!

Unfortunately, I caught a cold during my travels and I awoke partway through the night with a sore throat.
